Epiphany

As payback for that ache in your
chest, you glued horns to all
the mirrors around me and asked me
to thank you later for the insight

out of place
until they didn’t;
until I awoke one morning
and felt their heaviness on
the top of my head without having
to face the glass,

until that heaviness became my
second nature.
